on the 2nd, 4th, and 5th Tuesdays of each month.

Opening:
Richard Naslund opened the meeting and led attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance, then turned the gavel over to BET President Rachel Sumner.

Club News:
Opening business:
·         Guest – Pankaj’s daughter
·         Non-guest - Mark Brown – returning member after 2 years absence.
·         TLI in Cookeville on Saturday, June 29, 2013 with anticipated makeup session in Nashville TBA.  BET will cover costs for members in good standing who wish to attend.
·         Happy birthday and welcome back Michael Moryc!

Marc Smith presented the word of the day: banal – adj. tired, trite, over-familiar through overuse

Steve Ketterbaugh told an anecdote about a crafty grocery shopper who was a scam artist.

Speaker #1: Pankaj Soni discussed whether TV and movies influence children more than their parents.

Toastmaster for the evening – Richard Naslund



Opening:
Chris Meador opened the meeting and led attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance, then turned the gavel over to BET President Rachel Sumner who read the mission of Toastmasters International.

Club News: Rachel explained that tonight we would hold election of officers for the coming year. She asked for any nominations from the floor, however  there were none. She then presented the following slate of officers;
President:  Mark Bayless
VP Education:  Pankaj Soni
VP Membership:  Ani Osborne
VP PR:  Janet Schreibman
Treasurer:  Mike Costa
Secretary: Chris Meador
Sergeant at Arms: Richard Naslund

Skip Malone made a motion to accept the slate as presented. Susan Martin seconded the motion. The membership voted unanimously to accept the slate.

Andrew Payne provided a summary of considerations for purchasing a projector for the club. Susan Martin made a motion to approve the purchase of the recommended projector and to pay up to $100 for an extended warranty. Chris Meador seconded the motion. The club unanimously approved the purchase.

Rachel congratulated Andrew Payne who was completing the Competent Communicator series this evening.

Word of the Day: Tim Diehl – chronic , n. a disease of long duration; a long-lasting state of disorder.

Humorist:  Lynn Wallace – shared a humorous tale about a couple who slept in a hotel for only 4 hours, but were charged an exorbitant fee.

Opening:
Chris Meador opened the meeting and led attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance, then turned the gavel over to BET President Rachel Sumner who welcomed our guests.

Club News: Rachel summarized for members the concluding meeting of our Youth Leadership Program. Officer training will be held in Cookeville on Saturday, June 29 at 9:30. We are seeking officers for the upcoming year, especially candidates for the role of president. Please consider running and let one of the current officers know about your interest. Candace Asher is a new member.
