BET Officers Meeting Minutes
February 5, 2024
Presiding Officer:
Bill Martin
The following topics were discussed:
1) Officers reviewed progress on our Distinguished
Club plan. BET is in good standing to become a Select Distinguished Club.
2) 2) Consider advantages and disadvantages
of using the free Toast Host site instead of Easy-Speak online program for
agendas and club organizational management. Bill will research the app and
report his findings.
3) For the Feb. 13th meeting,
Susan suggested doing an Educational Moment: a 1 to 2 minute presentation
between the Word of the Day and Humor roles. This would address a brief Toastmaster
tip, trick or culture aspect of TI for membership knowledge. Susan to also
schedule a time to talk about Level 1 path to make navigating it easier and
less confusing for members.
4) We discussed officers’ succession
plan for upcoming TI calendar year. Possibility of doing an educational program
panel discussion addressing each officer role during the March 12th
meeting as a Level 1 Project, then Q&A afterwards to educate membership
about the various leadership roles.
5) Officers recommend hosting a before-meeting
gathering beginning 6-6:15 p. in our regular space to commemorate “International PI DAY” on March
12th. Attendees are encouraged to bring a “pie”
of their choice to share with the group. Janet will email a Sign Up Genius list
to members prior to meeting in order to encourage both a savory and sweet pie
assortment and avoid duplications.
6) Suggest hosting potential Open House
on April 9th or a May meeting which could include snack foods for
all attending.
7) Our 5th Tuesday of month meeting
on April 30th could be a brief agenda in order to allow attendees to
participate in a “Post Toasties” dinner/social afterwards at a nearby
restaurant TBD.
8) Our budget is currently $841.
Club needs to have discussion regarding whether or not to institute BET club dues again.
9) We should have hard copies resource file of
evaluation forms available at meetings for evaluators to use whenever needed.
