Club Business and Announcements
Within
the next 4-6 weeks, the Brentwood Evening Toastmasters club will be
electing officers for the upcoming term July 1, 2015 through June 30,
2016. This is a fantastic opportunity for members to contribute to the
health and growth of the club while developing valuable leadership
skills and experiences. The commitment can be as small as a few hours
of additional work per month, or as much as you want to put into (and
get out of) it! Members of ALL experience levels are encouraged to
accept a nomination for an officer role. For more information, read
about the officer roles in the handbook (available here
-- please note the PDF can be downloaded for free) or simply ask one of
the club officers at the next club. We would be happy to tell you
about the roles.
All
are welcome to attend a special storytelling training program on
Saturday, May 30, 5:00-8:00 pm sponsored by the Deipnosophist
Toastmasters. Expect a very entertaining as well as informative evening
featuring several notable speakers demonstrating various types of
storytelling. Although there is no registration fee, this event will be
held at the Hermitage House Smorgasbord and the restaurant expects
attendees to purchase either supper or a dessert and drink. Supper is
at 5:00 and the program begins at 6:00. Please RSVP no later than May
25, or request information about the event, by contacting John Patton.

BET's own Patrick Frazier will be presenting a speech about resume writing for the Career Transitions Support Group on Monday, June 1, at 7:00. Patrick gave a condensed (12-15 minutes) version of this speech at BET last year, and it was extremely informative and entertaining. All are welcome to visit the CTSG, which meets at the Brentwood United Methodist Church, to support Patrick. For directions and contact information visit the CTSG website at http://www.bumc.net/career.
