BET Officers Meeting Minutes

September 5, 2023

The following topics were discussed:

 

1. Officers reviewed progress on our Distinguished Club plan thus far:

• ·       We've accomplished two level 2 awards

• ·       We've accomplished one level 4 awards

• ·       Dues were paid on time

• ·       New officer designations were reported on time

• ·       We had 4 officer roles credited for attending TLI
  

     

     2.   We discussed need to reinforce members recognition of accomplishments

 

3.   Importance of providing members evaluation feedback in both verbal/traditional and digital options. This can include a QR code option.

 

4.   It was unanimously agreed that the meeting for Oct. 31 (Halloween) should be canceled.

 

5.   We should provide/stock generic feedback forms for evaluators as back ups.

 

6.   We should pursue recruitment for a new Sergeant at Arms along with a substitute available as needed.

 

7.   To allow more member participation, we should separate Word, Ah Counter and Grammarian roles; we can also assign a member to open each meeting.

 

8.   The possibility of timing Ah Counter and Grammarian roles was considered along with establishing time milestones for various segments of the meetings.

 

9.   Consider revising the script of New Member Inductions to be simpler and less intimidating.

 

10. Discussion occurred on re-instating BET club dues in the near future.

 

11. Consider the club purchasing and presenting a small gift to current members in appreciation and recognition, where appropriate. Possibly  a TI gel pen.

 

12. Group considered more social opportunities for members such as a holiday pot luck gathering, and quarterly socials/meals before meetings.

 

13. Next officers meeting scheduled for October 17
